A History of helping

- 1920 -

The Beginning
Under the name Retail Furniture Dealers Association of America, the organization that became National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA) officially forms.​
- 1950 -

MEMBER BENEFIT APPROVED
First Group Insurance Program approved and made available to the membership.
- 1960 -

FIRST AFFILIATE
Southern Home Furnishings Association (SHFA) becomes NHFA’s first affiliated organization.
- 1985 -

NEXT GENERATION FOCUS
Next Generation Now (NGN), an organization to perpetuate family businesses, is formed.
- 1998 -

HIGH POINT RESOURCE CENTER
NHFA celebrates the opening of the Retailer Resource Center® in High Point’s International Home Furnishings Center.
- 1998 -

FINANCING PROGRAM
The first financing program for members was introduced and continues to be one of the most utilized benefits of the association.
- 2005 -

LAS VEGAS RESOURCE CENTER
Las Vegas Furniture Market opens with a state-of-the-art Retailer Resource Center® hosted by the Western Home Furnishings Association.
- 2013 -

COMING TOGETHER
Merger of the Big 3 associations: NHFA, WHFA and HFIA created the unified Home Furnishings Association.
- 2020 -

CENTENNIAL YEAR
HFA proudly celebrates 100 years of serving home furnishings retailers.
