HFA member City Furniture is gladly sharing the spotlight at its latest store opening. The company’s newest store in Miami’s Doral community is a dual-brand: City Furniture and Ashley HomeStore.
It’s the latest step in City’s $100 million expansion program that has added a Miami Modern showroom in midtown Miami and the company’s first two Orlando-area City Furniture superstores. This store includes the KC Café & Wine Bar, the City Marketplace store-within-a-store concept and more.
City Furniture President Andrew Koenig said the dual-brand is another example of City changing with the times. “We’re continually innovating and listening to our customers to give them an exceptional shopping environment,” said Koenig. “For the dynamic, style-savvy Doral market, we’ve created the latest evolution of our next-generation showroom design. It’s a relaxed, fun environment where customers will find great values and an unmatched selection of modern, casual and traditional furniture styles and home accents.”
City is also using the store to test its new technology, which focuses on customer convenience, Koenig said. A customized iPad system allows sales associates to verify items in stock on site as well as at other City stores and distribution centers. The system also enables associates to take payment and complete scheduling the delivery almost instantaneously. The company offers same-day delivery for in-store customers and full online shopping.
Customers can check availability and complete purchase of any item anywhere in the store.
The Doral store opened Nov. 22, kicking off a four-day grand opening celebration.
The new two-story, 100,000-square-foot building puts the brands together in the Doral market. The new location is the latest expansion for City Furniture, a national Top 100 furniture retailer and Ashley HomeStore licensee in southwest and southeast Florida.
Giving back
City Furniture this year announced a 5% Giving Pledge that commits at least 5 percent of annual profits to charities in communities it serves. The company is a longtime supporter of Covenant House Florida, and recently it made a $1 million commitment to the nonprofit agency that serves South and Central Florida children and youth who are homeless or at risk. In South Florida, City Furniture is also active in community initiatives with charities including Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society.
Delivering on City Furniture’s 2040 Green Promise, the new Doral superstore is the eighth showroom the company has built to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
City Furniture operates 20 showrooms from Miami through Vero Beach, and in southwest and central Florida. It also operates 14 Ashley Furniture showrooms as the brand’s Southeast and Southwest Florida licensee.
