Longtime Home Furnishings Association member El Dorado Furniture, forever a fixture in South Florida, has begun its trek north with the opening of its latest store in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The 44,000-square-foot store is located at 3700 Tyrone Blvd., in a former Sports Authority Building. It’s the first El Dorado store to open outside South Florida in the company’s 52 years. There will be more. The company has plans to open stores in Tampa and Altamonte Springs in the coming months, further expanding its footprint. But for now, the focus is on St. Petersburg. El Dorado Chief Operations Officer Pedro Capo called the new store “the perfect strategic first location for our expansion plans in the Tampa Bay area.”
Like all the other El Dorado stores, the St. Petersburg showroom features the “boulevard concept” for which the company is known.
Founder Manuel Capo created the concept, which consists of individualized themed storefronts, in 1994. Those storefronts open into specialized shops displaying furniture styles ranging from contemporary to eclectic and traditional. The new store will also exhibit showrooms such as Coastal, Home Gallery, The Terrace and El Dorado Furniture’s unique collections such as Carlo Perazzi and LIV.
To celebrate the store’s new opening, the Capo family made a $5,000 contribution to the Children’s Home Network, which helps children and families in need in the Tampa Bay area.
Along with offering home furnishings, the new location will also provide 45 jobs for the community, including sales associates.
