About Us
Making History
With roots dating to 1920, the Home Furnishings Association is the nation’s only trade association devoted exclusively to the needs and interests of home furnishings retailers. Our business has one priority: the success of more than 1,200 retail members and their 7,000 storefronts. The world is changing, and the HFA is here to help you stay ahead. HFA creates opportunities for retailers to connect with each other at markets, conferences and special events, learn how to satisfy and delight customers, and find better ways to run profitable businesses that contribute to their communities and provide good jobs.
With your company’s HFA membership, all employees are members. You and your team have access to tools and resources to help you and your business thrive. Most importantly, you become a part of a community of peers who want to share in the industry’s success just like the founding members did 100 years ago.
The Home Furnishings Association is focused on making home furnishings matter.

The Story Behind Next Generation Now
Twenty-five years ago, a furniture dealer from Olympia, WA was discussing his concerns of trying to transition his five children into the family business. He was concerned that the furniture industry was losing the next generation of retailers to “sexier” industries such as computer technologies and financial brokerages. Thus, Next Generation Now was born.
Developed to assist the sons, daughters and key managers in becoming the future leaders of their family’s furniture business, the group holds meetings, social events and round table discussions all focused on critical skills the youthful group needs to transition into leadership roles.
Poised and ready to develop its next group of leaders, Next Generation Now provides professional development and hosts forums to give a voice to the unique needs of family run businesses.
These energetic, curious, savvy young individuals are your future customers. Your support of Next Generation Now can help to develop even longer relationships. Working together, this community will develop the next group of industry leaders through educational events, social networking and give a voice to the unique needs of future generations in the furniture industry.
