Home Furnishings Association member Serrano’s Furniture is growing again. Only this time the company with eight stores in California’s San Joaquin Valley isn’t adding a store – it’s moving one to a larger location.
The company’s Hanford store has outgrown its 12,500-square-foot downtown building and will move to the Hanford Mall where it will take over a portion of a former Forever 21 store.
Joe Serrano, owner of Serrano’s Furniture, told Hanford Planning Commission members his business is growing and he needs to move “to a more viable area,” according to The Sentinel newspaper.
Serrano opened his first furniture store in 1986 in Delano, a small agricultural town about 30 miles north of Bakersfield. The company has since expanded with stores in Tulare, Hanford, Porterville, Visalia, Dinuba, Fresno and Madera.
The new mall location will give Serrano’s some much-needed space to expand, said general manager Tracy Wyrick. “Business has been really good,” Wyrick said. “We’ve been needing to make a move for some time. This is going to be a good fit for us.”
