National Furniture Safety Week is coming up October 5–10, 2026, and HFA members are invited to participate.
HFA has joined forces with the American Home Furnishings Alliance to raise awareness of common household furniture-related hazards and share practical safety information with consumers. This nationwide campaign brings together retailers, manufacturers, importers, safety organizations, and other industry partners around a simple goal: helping families create safer homes.
Participation is free, and getting involved doesn’t have to be complicated.
Why Furniture Safety Week Matters
Furniture Safety Week enables our industry to educate consumers and highlight the work underway to develop and maintain effective product safety standards.
By sharing clear, useful information, furniture retailers can help reduce preventable injuries and reinforce their commitment to customers’ well-being. It’s also a great opportunity to start safety conversations with employees, customers, and local communities.
Five Easy Ways to Participate
- Sign up for the campaign
Complete the official Furniture Safety Week participant sign-up form. Participating companies receive a toolkit with downloadable logos, social media graphics, and other campaign materials—all at no cost.
If your company is already registered, watch for additional 2026 campaign resources as the week approaches.
- Spread the word
Let your customers, business partners, and local media know that your company supports Furniture Safety Week. Plan to share campaign messages through your social media channels, emails, and in-store communications from October 5–10.
- Get your employees involved
Make sure your team knows why your company is participating. Provide employees with safety information they can share with customers, and encourage them to amplify campaign messages on their own social networks.
- Review your website’s safety information
Take a fresh look at the furniture safety content on your website. Is it current, easy to find, and written in a language consumers can understand?
Your website should clearly communicate your commitment to safe products and explain relevant safety standards without relying on technical jargon. If you don’t yet have a dedicated furniture safety page, consider adding one to your future website plans.
- Check your online product descriptions
Because many consumers begin their furniture shopping online, accurate product descriptions are especially important. Review listings for products subject to mandatory safety standards, including bunk beds and clothing storage furniture, and make sure appropriate safety information is included.
